This post is brought to you by Golden Island Jerky but the opinions are 100% my own.
Hi my name is Justin Beam and I am a Jerky-holic. I love all kinds of jerky, actually I can hardly walk past a beef jerky display without stopping and buying some. I’m the guy that goes to the fair to get jerky not to ride the rides etc. and my 2 year old son is well on his way to being just like me! So when I had the opportunity to try out Golden Island Jerky I jumped in head first. Here is my take on a few of the many flavors available.
Golden Island Jerky is available in six original flavors:
- Chili Lime Beef Jerky
- Grilled Barbecue Pork Jerky
- Korean Barbecue Pork Jerky
- Mandarin Orange Beef Jerky
- Hickory Black Pepper Beef Jerky
- Teriyaki Pork Jerky
and three epicurean flavors:
- Five Spice
- Kung Pao Beef Jerky
- Spice Curry Beef Jerky
I had the pleasure of getting to know five of the original flavors. Here is my take on them!
Chili Lime
I happen to love chili almost as much as I love jerky! So of course this was the first one I decided to take a bite of. At first taste this jerky has a rich Chili flavor with adequate heat! You can really taste the crushed red chili pepper on this one! The Chili Lime is kettle cooked so it is very moist and chewy. It is a very nice flavor and well worth trying!
Grilled Barbecue
This is a pork jerky, usually I am not a big pork jerky fan but of course I had to try it. This is also a grilled jerky which you can really taste as you chew it. If you are not a fan of spicy jerky then this is definitely for you. It has a rich sweet barbecue taste and is very moist and chewy.
Korean Barbecue
The Korean Barbecue is also a flame grilled pork jerky. It has a nice smoky barbecue flavor and just a hint of soy sauce. It is a little dryer than the Grilled Barbecue but still a very moist jerky. I really enjoyed this jerky even though it is definitely way out of my “jerky comfort zone”!
Mandarin Orange
The Mandarin Orange is full of sweet tangy flavor. When you bite into this moist jerky you get a rush of flavor consistent with the name. If you prefer a sweet smoky flavor this is the one for you.
Hickory Black Pepper
I have always been a big fan of black pepper jerky and the kettle cooked Hickory Black Pepper jerky was not a disappointment. When you bite into it you get that natural jerky flavor and after a minute the black pepper kicks in and really brings it to life. With it’s moist rich flavor this jerky will definitely get the job done.
No matter what kind of jerky you are looking for Golden Island has something for you. I know what will be in my cooler on my next fishing trip! You can get your own Golden Island Jerky online by clicking HERE or click HERE to find a retailer near you.
