This post is brought to you by Vocalpoint and Life Reimagined. All opinions are my own.
Sometimes when asked to join campaigns I’m on the fence and I have to do some soul searching to see if it’s really a fit. I always felt I was pretty confident and fulfilling my personal goals day by day. I also believe that there is always room for improvement. After checking out Life Reimagined® and doing a little soul searching of myself, I thought, “Let’s do this”. After all, it can only help me and maybe just maybe one of my readers will read this and it’ll make a difference in their life for the better! So I signed up for Life Reimagined’s new digital subscription course, Become the Best Version of Yourself: A personal guided journey by Dr. Phil.
Before signing up you take two tests to evaluate what you see in yourself and what you want to see in yourself. You then sign up – yes, “Become the Best Version of Yourself” is a monthly subscription service with free activities to help get you started discovering your authentic self BUT right now you can get two weeks for free and in all honesty you can get a lot done (if you focus) in those two weeks. Most likely you will want to go on and I highly recommend it.
Let’s get the “Abouts” out of the way because I can’t wait to share what I learned.
Life Reimagined is a subsidiary of AARP that helps individuals rediscover what truly matters and take the steps to live their best lives. Recently, Life Reimagined has introduced a brand new digital subscription course, and we want you to be one of the first to try it out!
Become the Best Version of Yourself: A personal guided journey by Dr. Phil is a comprehensive online course designed by Dr. Phil to help you get in touch with your authentic self by working through major moments in your past and understanding how they impacted your sense of identity. Complete with original video content from Dr. Phil himself, this step-by-step process promises the freedom to be who you want to be, and the accountability to follow through.
Let’s talk Dr Phil
Dr Phil gives video content to help you go through the step by step process. What I really liked is how he gave examples that happened within his own life. Within the first ten minutes he asks you to find your ten defining moments and helps you go through each thought. Keep in mind this is not just a quiz answering questions to determine a general personality. Each step takes time, makes you think, and you unlock answers about yourself that you forgot about.
The online program is packed with personalized tools, guided exercises and video tutorials.
Activity
Each step gives activities for you to complete and your building a private journal.
My first activity made me remember the important life events that helped mold me, that made an impression on me, and now I know why.
For instance, at fourteen years old I started becoming rebellious. I was always a smart kid in top classes and my friends ranged from geeks to the most popular. I started skipping school, not doing my work, and worst of all smoking. My math and science teacher took my aside one day and gave me the toughest lecture I ever heard. The worst part was it was more how I disappointed him and he knew I really looked up to him. From the day on I never wanted to disappoint someone I looked up to. Over 30 years later I still think about what he said.
While going through each step I learned that we so often are not being authentic to ourselves. There is always so much going on that there isn’t quiet time for us to reflect on US, our feelings, our wants. Sure we say we want this or that and we have goals but there’s so much more to ME or YOU that should be known.
Life Map
This was actually one of my favorite activities. The life map is the foundation for setting meaningful goals and designing the path that leads to your purpose. With this exercise I have learned this about myself:
I want to use my gifts for Creating Things , Organizing Things and Making Deals and passions for Social , Traveling and Making Things to create an impact on Personal Growth , My Family and My Work because I value Family Values , Loyalty and Success . This will help me to Be entrepreneurial , Be creative and Have more time for learning .”
After reading this over and over, I know that I am on the right road. The career I chose fits with my goals and passions. I also uncovered that I’m not giving myself enough time because there are things I want to do personally but I’m putting them aside.
The Bottom Line
As I said in the beginning, There is always room for self growth. There are times in our lives when we need a little help to focus us to reflect on our inner self. Life sucks us in and we sometimes forget to take the time to smell the roses. I have found ways to take on my challenges and passions that I put off. I believe that I’m ready to embrace the stronger me and take control over me! It’s your turn, Take some time over the next two weeks and Become the Best Version of Yourself!
