Face it, your garage isn’t for your cars it’s for your tools! You sweat away in the summer and freeze in the winter fixing, building or just passing a little extra time. Recently I received a New Air Electric Baseboard Heater to review & I did just that! Its winter here in CT & this year has been cold, really cold compared to normal. Temperatures of zero or below are a little outside of my comfort zone! So why not give the heater a shot in my garage & really put it to the test!
After unpacking the NewAir AH-600 heater I was immediately impressed with style. I am really big on products having a modern style & attractive design. New Air has designed the heater with plastic end caps and built in handles so that you can move it if necessary while it’s hot. It features a black metal mesh to protect the heating element and fins while allowing ample flow for heat. Overall a very aesthetically pleasing heater.
The NewAir AH-600 provides a built in thermostat with timer. You can set the desired temperature and/or time then just enjoy the heat! At 31.5” long 5” wide & 8.25” tall & 1500 watts this little heater packs a pretty good punch allowing you to heat a room up to 10X25 or any other variation of 250 Square feet! So how did it work in the garage? I plugged this bad boy in and let it run for about an hour. The reason I did this is because it is a convection heater, not a forced air heater (the heat will rise to the ceiling before circulating the room naturally). So we began our journey with an ambient temperature of about 48 degrees in the garage. After the hour we had battled old man winter back and reached about 55 degrees (pretty good considering it was below 20 degrees outside). After a couple of hours the heater was able to get us to just below 60 degrees which is like a tropical vacation compared to baron wasteland of snow & ice on the other side of those garage doors!
Why the Space Heater?
- It’s quick – one step- plug it in
- Inexpensive – won’t raise fuel cost
- Portable
- Requires no construction as adding on to your heating system would
- No plumbing or duct work required
In a traditional living space the heater will provide & maintain adequate heat without a problem, after all it was capable of raising the temperature in my garage by over 10 degrees! I was not disappointed and I don’t believe you will be either!
Keep in mind that the metal mesh does get hot to the touch so make sure to watch children & pets carefully. As with any heater do not place directly under curtains or allow anything to rest against the heater.Where would you use the NewAir AH-600 heater? Do you often hang in your garage?
