In the 80’s if wrestling was on, you can expect to find me home watching it. We would be sucked into the drama and would often get in heated debates over who was the best wrestler ever. You couldn’t get enough of Hulk Hogan, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Rowdy Roddy Piper, and Andre The Giant. Then there were the guys you didn’t like, Ric Flair, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Brutus the Beefcake.
After I got married and had children, we still would watch and root for our favorites. Living in CT where the WWE headquarters are gives you lots of chances to “run into” these guys- which is always very cool to meet them and see just how HUGE they really are.
Now I have a grandson and I get to watch wrestling and see the amazement on his face when someone gets slammed. We’re gearing up for Wrestlemania XXVIII WWE’s biggest interactive fan event of the year.
If you’re in the Miami area you can see it live It will be at the Miami Beach Convention Center Thursday, March 29 – Sunday, April 1 featuring live matches, Q&As, autograph signings, interactive activities and Superstars like John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Triple H, the Divas and more!
One really cool activities they have now is the CeNation Action Zone – You can test your trivia knowledge for and win great prizes! Also, record your own Cena-inspired entrance music, pose for the camera at the Cena vs. Rock photo shoot, climb the “Rise Above Hate” climbing wall and more! There’s all kinds of fun interactive activities going on this week.
WWE today is involved with community in many ways.
WWE has a strong philosophy to give back to the communities and children whom we reach. “WWE In Your Corner” is WWE’s charitable arm that focuses on the company’s anti-bullying campaign, literacy programs, civic engagement, military support and 30-plus year partnership with The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
BE A STAR ANTI-BULLYING CAMPAIGN
WWE is strictly entertainment and our storylines are centered around good vs. evil, where conflicts are resolved in the ring. This is not how WWE talent, nor WWE as a company, deal with differences in real life. One should deal with differences by showing tolerance and respect. WWE is committed to sharing an anti-bullying message to show our fans how to resolve conflicts in the real world.
be a STAR (Show Tolerance And Respect) is a multi-platform, global anti-bullying initiative that launched in April 2011 in conjunction with The Creative Coalition. Currently, be a STAR has 48 alliance partners including the National Education Association Health Information Network (NEA HIN), GLAAD, United Federation of Teachers, Scholastic, Inc., and Stomp Out Bullying to name a few.
The mission of be a STAR is to ensure a positive and equitable social environment for everyone regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation. be a STAR promotes positive methods of social interaction and encourages people to treat others as equals and with respect because everyone is a star in their own right.
In April 2011, the alliance unveiled a free anti-bullying educator’s resource guide created by NEA HIN. The guide aligns with national education standards to complement curriculums, and consists of nine lesson plans centered around courage, responsibility, dignity, friendship, advocacy, resiliency, empathy, identity, and morality.

One of the things I love about wrestling is, you can talk a lot of smack while having a fun time with the family. Today I’m huge “Rock” fan and he is going to kick some Cena A$$. You will find me talking smack online, feel free to join in! @RachelFerrucci

Oh i hated it when Randy Macho Man Savage was the bad guy. I liked it when he played the good role but you never knew when he was going to the darkside.
