We love to vacation where there are beautiful beaches, warm air, and great food. The problem is, so does everyone else. Vacation spots can get crowded fast and finding a place where you don’t have people sitting two feet from you at the beach can be hard. This spring my husband and I decided to go to Florida and take a road trip. We flew into Orlando, grabbed our Kia Sorento SXL V6 AWD, and headed south. Our first stop was at my BFF’s Zippy, you may know her from ChampagneLiving.net. We stayed with her for a couple days as she waited on us as we sat by her pool, then headed south to a hidden gem beach resort at Delray Sands!
We arrived at The Delray Sands Beach Resort which is the only hotel in the upscale area of Highland Beach. Only minutes from Delray Beach and Boca Raton you will find yourself basking in the sun on their private beach. The secluded retreat has only 115 accommodations with the award winning Latitudes restaurant on the property. Take in the ocean view no matter where you decide to relax.
You Want Service?
When we arrived at Delray Sands Resort I had a full blown migraine. I forget my medicine and was having a friend overnight it but meanwhile I was in horrible pain. The front office saw my pain and found a walk-in clinic for me. They called to get the information and gave the directions to my husband. Long story there is I went, I got a shot which didn’t work so I needed to basically stay in bed for the day and night. I was so worried that my husband would be bored by himself but between sitting by the pool, having a drink at the bar, enjoying our patio, and sitting by the water across the street, he kept himself busy! First thing in the morning the front desk called me to tell me my medicine was in (they were all waiting for it). I took my meds and within and hour I was functional again!!! Yay ME!
The Beach and Pool
The service goes beyond catering to your medical needs. When you go to the beach, Andy will be there to take of your every need. The first thing he did was set up our cabana and chairs and checked in often to see if we needed anything. Since I’m more of the adventurous one, I headed to the crashing waves to play and see what sea jewels I could find. Searching for shells, I found baby jellies and immediately went to Facebook to ask what they were. Andy saw us studying the creatures and came over to fill us in. When he saw there were many of these jellies in the water he proceeded to let everyone know to be careful. When in any water you have to be aware of what’s in it that day but I love that he knows the waters so well that he checks it often throughout the day to make sure the visitors enjoy their beach day.
The service by the pool is also spot on. You don’t have to worry about looking for someone to have your next drink. Towels are ready for you to use at the pool or beach, so no need to pack them which leaves more room for souvenirs. Should you forget sunblock, you can pick some up in the lobby.
The Rooms
The rooms have everything you’ll need for your stay. Beds and pillows are comfortable (this is important to me). The shower is roomy and our veranda (patio) was perfect for sitting at night feeling the warm breeze while sipping our wine.
The Food
We had lunch on the deck at Latitudes so we could sit outside and enjoy the breeze. Once you book your room be sure to call Latitudes and make a reservation for dinner. You will find all the locals and tourists filling every seat in the award winning restaurant! Want to see our amazing meal at Latitudes? Make sure you’re not hungry because it will leave you drooling!
The Area- Downtown Delray Beach
If you’re the adventurous and shopping type (ok who doesn’t like to shop) you can head a little ways down the road to Atlantic Ave. You will find shopping galore, more beaches, and many restaurants to satisfy your every taste. The nightlife will have you dancing all night needing a lazy beach day!

My Last Words
I tried to squeeze in what I could but lost a day and a half due to my migraine. In the short time I was there, I know this would be a great place for my husband and I to spend a week or to come down with the family to have a fun time. You can pace it to your desire. One day totally relax and play at the beach and the next day head into town shopping, eating, and plan on hitting the nightlife. This is your vacation, your little gem, make it anything you want!
