Plan Your Grand Canyon Trip

January 25, 2016 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

It is one of the most iconic natural wonders in the United States. For many families in the United States, a trip to the Grand Canyon is simply a must. But if you are going to make the trip, it requires a good amount of planning before you get started.

Question One: How Are You Getting There?

By automobile, the trip is pretty straight-forward. However, if you are flying in, things get a bit more complicated. The nearest large airports are about a half a day’s drive away from the Grand Canyon. You can fly in closer, but you will need to book small, commuter planes that fly into local airstrips.

Question Two: When Are You Going

The Grand Canyon is stunning at all times of year, however, it isn’t fully open in the winter. During the wintertime, the South Rim is open, but the North Rim is closed. The North Rim is considered to be better suited for individuals and couples while the South Rim is a family-friendly paradise, so who you are traveling with will determine which spot is best, and therefore when you should go.

Question Three: Can You Handle High Altitudes?

If you are sensitive to high altitudes or altitude changes, or your doctor has concerns, West Grand Canyon is likely the best spot for you. It is open year round and is at a lower altitude, making it easy to visit and allowing you to go to the bottom of the canyon without worrying about the altitude changes.

Question Four: Where Will You Stay?

There are six hotels at the South Rim, one at the North Rim, and none at West Grand Canyon. Once you figure out where you are staying, your trip should be set. There are other activities you can plan, but the hotels are happy to take care of that for you.

Have you ever been to The Grand Canyon?

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
