Apple Fritters For #FallFun31

October 18, 2015 Rachel Ferrucci 4 Comments

apple frittersThis was one of my favorite recipes that my grandmother made every fall. It makes wonderful memories if you actually go apple picking and then come home and make it!

Use peeled apples, cut into piece no larger than an inch thick.

2 eggs
2 tsps sugar
2/3 c milk
1 tsp vegetable oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
vegetable oil for frying
5 cups fruits in large bite size piece
Confectioners sugar

apples on a branch

  1. Beat the eggs until light.
  2. Add the sugar, milk, vegetable oil, lemon juice and mix until blended.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and stir until smooth
If possible refrigerate an hour before using.

1. Pour about two inches of vegetable oil in heavy skillet and heat to 375

2. Turn oven to 250

3. Pat the pieces of fruit as dry as possible
4. Spear each piece with a fork and dip in batter, letting only excess batter drain back into the bowl, then lower carefully into hot oil.
Don’t over crowd the pan, fry about 6 pieces at a time. Allow about 2 minutes until the first side is golden brown, turn with a slotted spoon and brown the other side.
5. Drain on paper towels, patting to absorb excess oil. Keep finished fritters warm in oven until all are fried.

Dust with confectioners sugar and serve!

MANGIA!

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
