When I was asked to go get pampered at a salon with a friend by SheSpeaks.com, I jumped at the offer. Who doesn’t love to be pampered??? Why Biolage?

What you DO want!!!
- Biolage shampoo keeps the moisture in your hair while cleaning it. When you use a product and it makes your hair “Squeaky Clean”- This is bad, you’ve just stripped out all your natural oils. You want to gently clean the hair not strip it. “This is caused” by the detergents used in making the shampoo.
- Soft creamy lather- Big airy bubbles in your shampoo means sulfates- at this point, just grab your bubble bath and use that!
- Less is more- You shouldn’t need more than a quarter size of shampoo to wash your whole head
Let’s talk more in depth-
What a strand of hair looks like- Think of a fish- The scales of the fish are the outside layer (the cuticle) When we chemically treat or don’t take care of our hair, these scales can break or be damaged and this is what causes that fried, dry, frizz look.
All shampoos on the market say “ph balanced“. Companies are not required to put the ph on the label. Without getting into the science of ph, I will say, hair should be between 4.5-5.5 on the ph scale.
It’s important for a shampoo and conditioner to be around the same ph as our hair. Biolage measures in the range and helps add moisture and this helps to repair the hair. Prell for instance, is very high in ph. A good analogy would be using Tide vs Woolite on delicate clothes.
Ingredients- Store bought shampoos may have the same ingredients as Biolage, however, you have no idea of the amounts added. I can assure you, Yes Assure You, that Biolage has the proper formulation to keep your hair healthy.
Biolage conditioners actually help to rebuild the hair, they enter the cuticle (remember the fish scales) and go into the cortex (the inside of the hair strand) and repair it. Some (so-called) conditioners just lay the cuticles down and don’t actually repair the strand.
Why buy the products in a salon?
If you see the products in a store, most likely they’re illegally obtained. This means they can be expired or tampered with. They are NOT guaranteed and why take the chance for a few dollars!!
So now you when your friend tells you her hair sucks, you can give her real advice on how to take care of her hair!!!
