American Express PassCard

March 26, 2011 Rachel Ferrucci 2 Comments

Pass Card from American Express (AMEX) is prepaid reloadable card that parents can use to teach their teens how to manage money. You both, parent and child create an account for the one card.

As parents we can guide our children through the process of spending, balancing, and budgeting money. Track spending by going online, in real-time, 24/7. Parents can control if the ATM feature is active or inactive, and if lost it’s replaceable. It also comes with a 90- day purchase protection and road side assistance.

Credit makes it so easy to get into a jam with finances, it’s smart to teach the kids early on how to use a card properly.

With the pass card because it’s not an actual credit card you don’t get charged interest. What if you used this as learning experiences to teach about interest. When they make a purchase because there’s $100 in there and they had to have that shirt and CD. Go into the account and take out what the interest would be, they’ll see how quick that $100 goes.

My kids are past the age of teaching them finances and I’m proud to say they’re very good at it. What I love about the Pass Card is it’s PERFECT for parents who have a college student.

Sometimes I need to deposit money into my daughters account. The account we opened needed to be at a bank convenient to her since she doesn’t have a car at school. The bank closest to her is twenty minutes away from my house. I have to dry forty minutes to get that money to her- it’s such a pain!!!

With the Pass Card I can have my checking account connected and I just transfer the money over to the card and she has it the next day- how easy is that???? Just saved me 40 minutes plus gas.

Another thing I liked is that you can customize your card. When I   did hers, I put a picture of my grandson, her nephew on the card. She’s going to love it and no more telling her when she needs money on the spot to throw it on her credit card and me needing to make sure I go pay it quickly so we don’t get charged interest. It’s like using Cash- Whoot.

I obliviously like the card. There is one piece I’m not crazy about……. AMEX has a monthly fee, which they’ve waived until October. This fee could wind up being a high percentage of the money I put in. For instance, if I put $50 on the card in a month and they charge me their flat fee, I’m paying a high percentage. I’m hoping as more of us try the cards and voice our opinion that AMEX will hear us and figure out something else to help cover the cost of maintaining the cards.

You Now get to try it with my Special offer for YOU- Check this out

I heard about this card and for someone with older kids it seems perfect. Thanks for the review.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
