Keep Your Teen Driver Safe- Toyota Teen Driver Safety Clinic

One of the most exciting moments of my life was when I turned sixteen and could go get my driver’s permit. This was one more step to freedom, I could now go where I wanted, when I wanted, and with whom I wanted. Then came the rules!!! Was NOT expecting that!

I wasn’t thinking about the safety precautions and responsibility that came with the privilege of driving a car. I remember my mom in the passenger seat going over every single thing….. a hundred times. My grandfather even had me change a tire, check the oil, and learn the maintenance of a car. One tip that was very  beneficial was when I stopped at a red light to make sure I left plenty of room between me and the car in front of me. The last thing I thought of was someone rear-ending me which would be bad enough but to get hit and then slam into the car in front could not only cause more damage to your car but could be a double injury for you. Another tip she gave was to always use your mirrors and watch out for the other drivers. Mom said, “It’s the other people who can’t drive that you have to watch out for!”

Today’s teens have so many more distractions and I often see adults (not just young drivers) who are talking on the phone and texting making them swerve into other lanes. When I was asked if I would write an article to share this information, I jumped on it because I think we can all share horror road stories about someone who almost hit us.

Looking back and taking my own kids driving I now appreciate my mom’s patience, knowledge and all the time she took to make sure a was a safe driver. The Toyota’s Teen Driver Safety Clinics are great for those who will be getting their license and gives mom and dad another resource to make sure the kids are learning safety first! I love that Toyota has this program and every teen should attend! I encourage all parents to sign up and attend the Toyota Teen Driver Safety Clinics at their local dealership. It’s a great way to make sure our children are the safe drivers which means less worry for us.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
