For years every holiday or event we bought my husband some kind of tool, table saw, gadget, or gizmo. I was very familiar with Home Depot and Sears. I would ask for tools and I would get the, “Seriously?” As a kid I spent a lot of time in my grandfather’s workshop and love shop in school. It took my husband to see me actually jump in projects and really do the work before he took me serious. Eventually I had my own Dewalt cordless drill, biscuit joiner, tool belt, and more.
If your lady shows interest in tools, go for it. If you’re a single woman or your the one who will be fixing things around the house, here are the must-haves for a Survival Tool Kit:
- Tape Measure
- Claw Hammer
- Razor Knife
- Adjustable Wrench
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
- Levels (torpedo & two foot)
- Pliers
- Small handsaw
- Electrical Tape
- Duct Tape
Let’s Get Down and Dirty
- Cordless Screwdriver (look for a Lithium Ion Battery so it lasts a long time, keep it small and light so it’s easier to control)
- Cordless Drill (12 volt Black and Decker or Dewalt are my favorites)
That should cover everything you need to get projects done around the house. Now you can knock down a wall, change an electrical outlet, or something as simple as hanging pictures.
I want to take a class and pay for a few classes on how to do home repairs. Yes a book is good but i like to practice before i have to pay a professional.
