Tablet Command – Revolutionizing How First Responders Use Technology for Incident Response

June 28, 2026 Rachel Ferrucci

Technological advancements within the public safety industry have evolved rapidly in recent years, and Tablet Command, which was built by firefighters, has become a leader in the space by revolutionizing the way first responders use technology to respond to and manage incidents (especially large-scale ones) across fire and emergency management.

For years, most public safety technology was built around old systems that weren’t designed for the speed and mobility of modern incident response. Early on, Tablet Command’s co-founders, frontline firefighters William Pigeon and Andy Bozzo, recognized the potential for mobile technology to improve visibility, accountability, and coordination on the fireground.

“At a time when iOS devices were rarely considered for mission-critical government operations, we took a different approach,” said CEO & Cofounder William Pigeon. “What started as real-world problem solving inside the fire service eventually became our platform, now used by agencies across the U.S. and Canada to manage incidents, resources, and large-scale events.”

Today, over 1,600 agencies and 70,000 first responders are using iPads to run Tablet Command software in fire engines, ambulances, helicopters, and emergency operations environments, helping provide responders with a shared operational picture under one pane of glass, during fast-moving incidents. A whopping 275,000 incidents have been managed using their software. Not surprisingly, the company has taken off in recent years – they now have 55 employees and recently added over 10,000 new users in just a few weeks.

Tablet Command is incredibly unique in that it’s the only company to offer Incident Sharing and Shared Vehicle Location features in the way that they do, designed to enhance situational awareness and coordination across agencies. Many agencies throughout the country have started using Incident Sharing, and it’s proven to be very valuable in high-pressure situations. For example, during the 2025 Los Angeles fires, it provided critical information just moments after it was activated, showing how important it can be when managing large-scale emergency situations. By sharing incidents and vehicle locations, agencies can respond more quickly and effectively, which can make a big difference in keeping people safe. This kind of technology is essential for agencies that need to work together seamlessly, and Tablet Command continues to lead the way in this area.

Incidents, big or small, are tough to handle for the people in charge. With so many moving parts, they need to make quick decisions and manage resources well. The software isn’t used solely for emergencies – it’s also useful for big events where planning and management are crucial, like the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego or the Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale. Because Tablet Command was created out of real-life experiences, it works perfectly for managing incidents and events when large crowds of people get together. The platform has maps and a way to share resources, making it the easiest event management software to use in North America, and a powerful tool and difference maker throughout the entire public safety industry.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
