The Summer Shoes That Earned a Spot in My Suitcase

June 12, 2026 Rachel Ferrucci

There are two types of travelers. The first packs one pair of shoes and somehow survives an entire trip. The second is me.

I always start with the best intentions. I tell myself I’ll pack light. I tell myself I’ll be practical. Then somehow six pairs of shoes are staring back at me from the bedroom floor while I try to convince my suitcase to cooperate.

After my last few trips, I finally learned something important. It’s not about packing more shoes. It’s about packing better shoes.

Discover the Salt of Life.

As much as I love fashion, I’ve reached the stage of life where comfort gets equal billing. If a shoe looks fabulous but leaves me searching for the nearest bench after twenty minutes, it’s not coming on vacation. My suitcase real estate is simply too valuable.

This summer, I found myself gravitating toward shoes that could handle everything from sightseeing and beach walks to dinners and shopping days. The styles that kept earning their place in my suitcase weren’t necessarily the flashiest. They were the ones that worked the hardest.

The first pair that immediately made the cut were the DREAM PAIRS Women’s Platform Water Sandals . Every summer trip seems to involve some combination of beaches, pools, unexpected rain showers, or waterfront adventures. These sandals felt ready for all of it. The water-friendly design meant I wasn’t worried about getting them wet, and the platform gave me a little extra height without sacrificing comfort.

I could easily see myself wearing them while wandering a coastal town all morning before heading straight to lunch without feeling underdressed. That’s the kind of versatility I appreciate now more than ever.

The next item that earned permanent vacation status were the DREAM PAIRS Women’s Flats, Foldable Ballet Flats. If you’ve ever traveled with me, you know I believe in having a backup plan. These are exactly that.

Every woman has experienced the moment when the shoes she thought would be comfortable suddenly become the enemy. Having a foldable pair tucked into a handbag feels like a small act of genius. Whether it’s a long airport walk, an unexpected city tour, or an evening when your feet simply decide they’ve had enough, these flats come to the rescue.

Then came the

DREAM PAIRS Women’s Flat Sandals, which quickly became my choice for those days when simplicity wins. Summer wardrobes are already easy. Sundresses, shorts, linen pants, and lightweight tops do most of the work. Shoes should follow the same philosophy.

The ergonomic design and lightweight feel make them the kind of sandals you forget you’re wearing. And honestly, that’s one of the highest compliments I can give a pair of shoes.

The DREAM PAIRS Flats for Women Pointed Toe Knit Ballet Flats brought something different to the mix. They offer the comfort of a flat while looking polished enough for situations where flip-flops and casual sandals simply won’t cut it.

These are the shoes I’d wear while exploring a European city, grabbing lunch at a sidewalk café, or heading out for an evening where I wanted to look a little more put together without committing to heels.

Of course, not every vacation moment calls for flats. Sometimes a dinner reservation requires a little extra effort, and that’s where the DREAM PAIRS Women’s Chunky Low Block Heels come into the picture.

I love a heel that understands its assignment. It needs to elevate the outfit without creating new problems. The low block heel provides just enough lift while remaining practical enough for real life. Those cobblestone streets in Europe have taught me a thing or two about choosing footwear wisely.

Finally, there are the DREAM PAIRS Loafers for Women , which may be the most underrated travel shoe of all. Comfortable, versatile, and polished, they transition effortlessly between travel days, casual outings, and sightseeing adventures.

There was a time when I packed shoes for every possible scenario. Now I pack shoes that can handle multiple scenarios. It’s a much smarter approach, and my back appreciates the lighter luggage.

The truth is, the best travel shoes aren’t necessarily the trendiest. They’re the ones you keep reaching for day after day because they work. They support you through long walks, unexpected detours, and spontaneous adventures.

As I prepare for another summer of travel, I’ve become far more selective about what earns space in my suitcase. These are the styles that made the cut because they help me spend less time worrying about my feet and more time enjoying the journey.

And that’s really what travel should be about.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
