Exploring Las Vegas’ Artistic Side: Murals, Galleries & Street Art

August 27, 2025 Rachel Ferrucci

Did you know that Las Vegas is so much more than a party destination? Sure, the allure of neon lights, casinos, and incredible entertainment draws in millions of partygoers every year, but if you’re someone who likes the finer things in life or someone who is drawn to art, community spirit, and up-and-coming artists, you might be interested in exploring the art scene in Vegas.

The arts scene here is thriving, with hidden creative corners, murals appearing out of nowhere, and street art becoming part of the overall Vegas vibe. If you’re heading to Las Vegas and want to split your time between casinos and something a little more eye-opening and cultural, or you’re an artist looking for your next shot of inspiration, then read on to discover how you can explore Las Vegas’ artistic side.

Where to Stay

If affordable and art-filled accommodation is what you’re hoping for, then Las Vegas can certainly deliver on both counts. You can start by comparing hotel room prices online to find the latest deals on the best locations in the city. Just remember to do this as far in advance as you possibly can to avoid disappointment! Wondering which locations to look at during your search? Here’s where the creatives are usually at work:

  • Downtown Las Vegas: Also known as the Arts District/Fremont East, this area is a great base for art lovers. It’s incredibly walkable, edgy, and filled with galleries and murals everywhere you look!
  • Many hotels in this area collaborate with local artists which means you can find artwork in lobbies, in hotel corridors and even in the rooms themselves.
  • Hotels and resorts like The ENGLiSH Hotel are a stylish option right in the heart of the Arts District. While accommodation at the Downtown Grand puts you within walking distance of art walks and creative events.
  • If your trip is more of a cultural experience, then don’t worry about staying directly near the Strip or in the center of it all, there are plenty of affordable hotels off the main Strip, and access to taxis, Ubers, and ride shares makes getting around easy.

Visiting the Arts District

The heart of Vegas’ creative scene the Arts District is a must-explore for any visitor who wants to enjoy art and the incredible levels of talent and variety that are on display. Visitors can easily spend an entire day here, and if there’s a specific event happening, then you may find yourself returning more than once.

A stroll along Main Street and California Avenue and you’ll find colourful murals, galleries, record shops and vintage boutiques. Head to Arts Square and take some time out from the heat and the crowds and enjoy an hour or two exploring the abundance of galleries, theatres and cosy courtyards. Those who visit on the first Friday of every month can experience the area’s monthly art event, where local vendors, street musicians, artists, and food trucks are in abundance. You can even watch wall murals being painted in real-time!

The Best Murals and Street Art in Vegas

In Vegas, you’ll find street art and murals in every area, but the main location you need to explore for the latest and most impressive creative offerings is Downtown. It’s considered to be mural-central, and it’s a great place to stroll around and soak up the atmosphere. Don’t forget to look for work by global artists like Shepard Fairey, Bicicleta Sem Freio, D*Face, and local creators! Ideal if you’re searching for some inspiration for your own work, or if you’re hoping to have some impressive shots on your Instagram feed. You might also want to check out The Plaza Hotel’s mural wall, The Arts Factory exterior, and alleyways around Fremont East. You can also check out the museums in Vegas.

If you want to have the best experience, consider visiting in the early morning or in the evening to avoid the larger crowds and to escape the Las Vegas heat.

Workshops and Creative Experiences

You don’t have to be a budding Picasso to enjoy something arty in Las Vegas; in fact, visitors will find a wide range of fun and immersive experiences suitable for all ages and abilities. Why not try a painting class or take a hosted mural tour where you’ll find out more about specific installations and how they came to be. Visit Clay Arts Vegas or The Pottery Shop for ceramic painting or clay wheel experiences, or consider a photography walk through Fremont East or Container Park. Again, it’s a great way to get some inspiration or boost your own portfolio.

Tips for Creativity Seekers in Las Vegas

Knowing how to spend your time and what to prioritize during your Vegas trip can help you plan your trip and ensure that no moment is wasted in this vibrant city. So, consider the following:

  • Remember to look beyond the Strip: Downtown Vegas and the Arts District are where you need to be!
  • Carry a camera or a sketchbook: Who knows when inspiration might strike? Having a sketchbook or a camera to hand (sometimes a different lens rather than your phone can make a real difference) means you can take notes, draw or capture a moment perfectly.
  • Dress comfortably: Vegas is hot, so you’ll need to dress for the weather and remember to take regular breaks from the heat. Loose, comfortable clothing made from cotton or natural fibers is best. Also, make sure you break in your walking shoes!
  • Engage with local artists: Whenever you get the opportunity to speak with local artists, do! Whether you’re enjoying a talk at a local gallery, watching an artist paint a mural in real time or attending an event for up and coming talent, there’s so much to learn about techniques and the reasoning behind their latest work.

While Vegas is famous for its party atmosphere, neon lights and casinos, there’s definitely an artistic side that’s just waiting to be discovered. Remember, to enjoy your vacation and take things slowly, it’s the best way to soak up the creativity and boost your own ideas!
