How To Prepare For Cosmetic Surgery

July 6, 2021 Rachel Ferrucci

Preparing for cosmetic surgery, or any surgery can be scary. Even if you’re certain it’s what you want, it’s normal to feel a bit anxious.

A good surgeon will help you to prepare for each stage of the journey, from your first appointment to your final follow-up. Schedule a consultation with the best surgeon you can find, such as the best breast augmentation surgeons to talk through any worries you have.

Schedule Plastic Surgery Procedures When You’re Healthy

Whether you’re booking a tummy tuck, a facelift, or liposuction, you should be in good health. Anyone who has an infection or a health condition will be at higher risk of experiencing complications. When you see your surgeon, you should be prepared to answer a lot of questions about your health and health history. Make sure you disclose any medications or supplements that you currently take. Based on this information, your surgeon can decide if it is safe to move forward.

Learn What To Eat Before Plastic Surgery

You might not be thinking much about food, but a healthy diet before surgery can help you to recover faster. A diet packed with nutrients can support faster healing and fight infection. Your usual doctor should be able to advise on what you should try to eat before surgery and what would be best for your health.

Stay Hydrated By Drinking Water

Whatever procedure you’re preparing for, you should drink a lot of water. Water can improve the health of your tissue, and also sustains important functions, like digestion and circulation. You should aim to drink between six and eight glasses of water a day to keep you properly hydrated and to cleanse your body. As a patient, keep a bottle of water with you so you can sip at it and keep hydrated during your recovery time.

Stop Smoking At Least A Few Weeks Before Surgery

Cigarettes and other tobacco products can slow down the recovery process after cosmetic surgery. Efficient blood flow is very important for healing, but smoking can cause problems for your ability to supply enough blood to the surgical area. Smoking can also age you faster. If you’re having surgery for cosmetic reasons, you’ll get and maintain better results if you don’t smoke. Plan to stop smoking at least several weeks before your surgery, and don’t smoke during your recovery time. If you can, try to quit altogether.

Prepare A Space To Get Plenty Of Rest

As well as knowing what you should eat before you have cosmetic surgery, you should also make a plan for where you’re going to rest and sleep. If your movement will be restricted, you might not want to choose your bedroom if stairs will be difficult. Wherever you choose, make sure it is comfortable and relatively quiet. Gather all the things you might need, such as books, DVDs, healthy snacks, and magazines. Keep the phone number of your surgeon somewhere easy to find in case you need to call their office.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
