Why Good Communication Is Vital For Your Business

June 30, 2021 Rachel Ferrucci

Information is everywhere, all the time. In business, it is the magic ingredient that makes it possible to establish a strategy, to create cohesion between employees, to make the processes profitable. So how do you go about communicating well internally? Communicate or manage information well to avoid miscommunication, errors in business and share things safely and securely between teams.

When all goes well with communication, the employees have an overall picture of their company and they know its objectives. They understand the ins and outs of their work and have a real sense of belonging. All these elements greatly promote their creativity, allow them to make thoughtful decisions and responsibilities. It even helps in finding solutions to problems. Companies often share information through email, sometimes intranets, and sharing networks, such as Dropbox. Dropbox is safe and a great idea, but the platform can get clogged. You can learn to clean up dropbox duplicates easily.

The risks of poor internal communication

In the best of all possible worlds, information would flow in a fluid and concrete way, without any filter or barrier. Unfortunately, the transmission of messages is sometimes complicated in business. Some people withhold information and take a form of power out of it. Others distort it, knowingly or not, because they have not understood it or because they too seek to control it. When the transmission of the message is faulty, communication within the company becomes inconsistent. But the difficulties in communicating do not stop there. When information doesn’t come to them, employees may seek the answers outside the company, or worse, they invent their answers! This can cause a lot of trouble within the company itself. Therefore, files and information should be easily shared.

Organizing meetings, sending notes, shaking hands, or even distributing a brochure is a good start. However it is not enough to make the communication qualitative. To do well, you have to involve your employees and make them aware of the benefits of communication and encourage it.

Learn to communicate in business

  • Listen: For information to be communicative, the interlocutor must be interested. For that, it is necessary to listen to what he has to say. Everyone’s information needs are complex and different. This is why it is important to allow each department to express itself, through the intermediary of a relay employee for example.

  • Explain simply: The information disseminated in the company must be accessible and intelligible. Everyone wants to understand where they are going and why they are working. No need to be zealous and drown your employees in a constant flow of information: better to get to the point.

  • Be agile: Above all, information must be shared at the right time. This will avoid the risk of it being communicated wrongly or at the wrong time.

  • Be sincere: Communicate yes, but what about strategic and confidential information? Don’t panic: some information does not need to be disseminated to all stakeholders in a company. Communicating internally with sincerity makes it possible to gain credibility with its employees.

Involve employees in the company’s development strategy

Most companies generally do not communicate with their employees on their development strategies. Indeed, employees are not involved in the development process, but they are subject to it. As a result, it is not easy for them to put into practice or implement the decisions taken. An employee involved in the operation of the business is motivated. He or she will tend to work and communicate effectively. Any company should therefore ensure good internal communication. It should promote good transparency and buy-in from all members of the workforce. Involving employees in business development strategies facilitates communication. When the communication is quick and effective, problems can’t arise as easily. On top of that, company goals are easily achieved!

Clearly define responsibilities and roles

To communicate effectively in a business, it is important to clearly define everyone’s roles. This avoids not only misunderstandings but also misunderstandings in the professional environment. By clarifying the responsibilities of each of your employees, you improve communication. For that, you just need to make sure that the tasks are assigned to the right people. This will allow you to improve the skills of each of your employees. You can also achieve your expectations and promote the development of your company.

Therefore, how we communicate and share information is vital to the company’s growth and the workers within it. Keep things simple, and effective! This way you will be able to effectively succeed in business.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
