Helping Your Kid Learn From Home Is Key And Easier Than You Think

January 8, 2021 Rachel Ferrucci

As a parent, you might think that learning starts and ends at school. However, this is not the case and all the way through development it will be important for children to learn at home too. Learning from home will provide numerous advantages. For instance, through the summer season, you will be able to guarantee that kids don’t forget about their school work and instead stay on the right track.

That’s not all of course. There are other benefits too. For instance, it helps you understand the challenges that children are facing and their current position in school. You’ll learn what they need to work on, where they are falling short and even areas where they excel. So, let’s explore some of the ways that you can help your kids get on the right path here.

Encourage Reading

One of the easiest ways that you can help children learn at home is by encouraging them to read. Again, this will be important at a variety of different ages. At an early age, you need to make sure that you are focusing on basic literacy skills and reading along with your little one. However, as they get older, it will be useful to encourage kids to read. They should be reading books that are part of their school curriculum. But you should also encourage them to choose separate books too that they have selected themselves. These will most likely be fantasy or romance books. However, some kids will love the idea of diving into a nonfiction book on a topic that they find particularly interesting.

If you are going to help your child to read more at home, then you need to think about reading milestones by grade and age. In doing so, you will know exactly what level your child should be at and the type of books that they should be exploring themselves. It will also guarantee that you are setting what could be deemed to be obtainable goals for their age or level.

Writing Tasks

Next, you might want to think about ensuring that your child is improving their writing ability at home as well. One of the best ways to do this is to encourage them to keep a diary or a journal. This is particularly useful through the summer months as they will have plenty to write about for each day of their holiday or vacation. They could write little notes about the different experiences they have had or their thoughts about the day.

It could also be worth encouraging them to write little extracts about books that they are reading. This can be useful as it will ensure that they are absorbing any information that they are reading. Remember, tasks like this don’t need to be massive. They will be doing a lot of things at school. This is just about giving them the extra push that they need in key areas.

Money Lessons

It’s worth being aware that there are some things that kids won’t learn at school that you would perhaps like them too. For instance, a great example of this would be things related to money. There’s not a lot of time to teach children about the value of money and help them understand why it’s important to save. As a parent, you have a fantastic opportunity here.

One of the best ways that you can do this is by providing them with a set amount of money that they can spend in whatever way they like. A lot of parents will avoid this completely because they don’t want their child to waste their hard earned money. However, getting them to waste money a few times is kind of the point. They can learn from their mistakes and they will quickly realise why they should save and how it could benefit them.

One of the other ways to teach young children about money is to give them opportunities to learn. They could learn money by completing a variety of tasks around the home or even just good behavior. It helps them understand again how money has value and it’s a great way to help them adopt good practices at home as well as at school.

There’s An App For That

Of course, these days it’s quite common for parents to rely on technology for everything to do with children. This includes both entertainment and education. As you might have guessed, there are a vast array of different apps online that you might want to consider using to help boost your child’s learning at home. A classic example would be language apps. Language apps have become more advanced in recent years. This means that they are more helpful at teaching kids of all ages different languages. A key part of this is the voice control technology that is now a key element of these apps. This means that they can recognize and hear your voice to correct mistakes that you are making. It could be perfect if your child is struggling with languages in school.

Be aware that while most of these apps are safe, there are some that you want to avoid. Particularly, those where children can make purchases due to micro-transactions. Yes, these do exist and it’s important to ensure that this isn’t an option on your phone or a similar device.

If you are interested in finding the absolute best apps, then it’s always best to check the reviews. You’ll find a lot of information in these from parents who have already used the apps with their kids.

Educational Activities Away From Home

Next, you might want to think about exploring options such that are away from the home but still a great way to boost your child’s education. There are lots of cool choices here including full educational theme parks. A brilliant example would be Kidzania. Here, you will be able to make sure that your kids get the chance to role play in different careers. There are lots of possible choices here that you might be eager to explore as well. For instance, you can think about letting your child discover what it’s like to be a pilot or perhaps a police officer. With more than a hundred different role playing choices, the possibilities are virtually endless for kids. There is also a chance to earn currency. This is great as it’s another way to teach kids about the value of money and ensure that they are able to learn what it’s like to have a real job at an early age.

Next, you might want to think about something like a museumhttps://kasiawrites.com/why-do-people-visit-museums/. With a museum, you’ll be able to dive into a wide range of different subjects with your child. You can help them learn about things like history and art with real examples. You might also want to explore museums that are set up specifically for kids. There are quite a few of these around. For instance, you might want to think about visiting one of the many natural history museums. These are often highly interactive, making them perfect for young and old kids alike.

We hope this helps you understand some of the ways that you can help your kids learn from home. There are lots of possibilities worth exploring here and in doing so, you can make sure that they stay on track with their school work. You will also be able to guarantee that they have incredible levels of potential, they can harness it and reach new goals in their school career.

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

Get the details and try it for yourself at the link in my bio.

In paid partnership with #NoPainPact and with the support of #VoicesforNonOpioidChoices.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
