September 25, 2020 Rachel Ferrucci

There is never a time like the present to take up a new sport. Maybe there is a sport you have been wanting to try for a while, or perhaps you are looking to find something completely new to try your hand at. Whatever it is, there are so many benefits to be had from trying something new. Advice suggests you should do at least two types of physical activity per week, so why take this time up with something you don’t enjoy, when you can find something that’s new and fun! Whether you are into your cardio, strength or just like the social aspect of sports, these are a great way to incorporate them all into your week. By increasing your fitness you will find your physical and mental wellbeing improved too.

Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu is a form of modern martial arts discipline and has ancient roots. It uses a number of factors such as knowledge of the human anatomy alongside the principals of angles, pressure and leverage to take down an opponent. It is both excellent for self defense and also your general fitness as it requires you to be nimble, quick and also to build up your strength. You can use a variety of tactics in the outside world, such as jiu jitsu knife defense which can aid you if the situation ever arose.

Disc Golf
Disc golf is similar to the golf game you know and love, but with a fun twist. Instead of hitting balls into a hole, you throw different discs into baskets on a long course. You have a par and the game is usually played with 9 or 18 holes. It isn’t a strenuous sport but can rack up thousands of steps per play so is a good option if you want to fit without it being too hard. It is a sport that you can either play alone or against others.

Sepak Takwar

Sepak Takwar is a game which marries together elements of football and badminton and has been around for thousands of years. Participants in this game have to kick a ball over a net with their feet, legs and head as opposed to using hands. This game requires you to be nimble and able to contort your body into a variety of shapes to hit the ball – its a fun and unique option!

Water Polo

Water Polo is a competitive sport played by two teams where they have to score goals by throwing a ball into the goal of the opposing team. It is a great sport for camaraderie and also to get active as it involves plenty of movement around the water. It’s a good sport if you are looking for something low impact and is easier on your body than something such as running.

These are some alternative sport ideas to take up this autumn that will see you getting fitter in no time. You could try them all out or just one or two – the important thing is that you have fun while improving your overhaul health too.

I didn’t realize how much poor sleep was affecting my trips… until I fixed it.

Waking up tired, adjusting to new places, different beds, time zones… it adds up fast.

Traveling with the AirMini changed that for me. It’s compact, simple, and makes it easy to stay consistent no matter where I am.

Now I actually feel like I’m experiencing my trips, not just getting through them.

Check it out at the link in my bio.

#ad No one tells you that your skin doesn’t just “age”… it changes.

Dryness, dullness, fine lines, that crepey texture… it’s not just time. It’s hormonal.

I kept layering on creams thinking I just needed something “better,” but nothing was actually addressing what was going on underneath.

M4 from @myalloy is different. It’s prescription skincare made specifically for hormonal skin, using topical estriol to help restore collagen, hydration, and elasticity right where your skin needs it.

It doesn’t enter your bloodstream. It works at the skin level. And honestly… it just makes sense.
