6 Ways To Achieve A Luxury Looking Dining Room

August 28, 2020 Rachel Ferrucci

Decorating a Dining Room

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make your dining room look high end and luxurious. Knowing where to save money and where to splurge can help.  We have decorated our own dining rooms and found 8 ways you can achieve a luxury looking dining room.

  1. Crown Molding

Decorative crown molding can be a fairly inexpensive way of giving your home a high end look without spending too much money. You could even do it yourself with a little DIY skill and determination. Professionals can still be low cost, and are always worth the investment.

2. Go Antique Hunting

An antique can give your room a real sense of wisdom and history. You can buy fake antiques, but you don’t want to have the same ‘antique’ as somebody else, and there’s little that can beat that true antique patina look. Lamps, mirrors, and pieces of furniture are all great ways to give your dining room a luxury look. Buy something that makes a statement and you’ll give your dining room that something special.

3. Buy Luxurious Looking Curtains

Luxurious looking curtains often only have to be bespoke for them to look super expensive. Custom window treatments aren’t cheap, but they are a good way for you to create a more expensive looking dining room and let in more natural light.

4. Choose Metallic Pieces

Metallic accents can make a big difference to how luxurious your dining room looks. You could create metallic surfaces, for instance, but you really don’t want to go too gung-ho and make everything metallic. Too much metallic and things will start to look tacky, rather than luxury. Think small when it comes to incorporating metallic pieces and your home will look far more luxurious. A nice metallic lamp and mirror could just do the trick. You could also swap out your drawer pulls if you want a little something extra. Furniture for dining rooms should be high quality, but doesn’t necessarily need to be painted metallic. You only need small pieces, really.

5. Install Dimmer Switches

Did you know that dimmer switches can help to make your dining room more luxurious? Dimmed down lighting makes just about everything look better, so installing it in your dining room is a great way to get that luxurious look you’re after.

6. Add Fresh Flowers

A fresh flower subscription could help you to achieve a brighter, more luxurious look in no time. Full, lush bouquets can make a huge difference, so add some to your dining table as a centerpiece. A flimsy display will do nothing but make the room look cheaper, so be smart with what you buy. Realistic looking fake flowers could be ok, but they really should be as realistic as possible.

A luxury dining room doesn’t need to cost a fortune. By using the advice above, you can create a more luxury looking room in no time at all. What will you add to your dining room? Leave your thoughts below!

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
