While doing the laundry may well be one of the most hated jobs in the world, it’s still the case that people would love to have a laundry room in their homes. A whole space to wash and dry clothes while also being able to shut the door on the towering wash baskets? Sign me up!
The thing is, it’s a tiring, never-ending cycle of doom for most. Wash, dry, hang, fold, wash – and on it goes. The worst thing is that none of us have a choice if we want clean clothes – so we have to make this chore the best of the bunch. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the ways that you could fall in love with laundry – with a laundry room. There are a few things that a good laundry room must have, and we’ve got five of those for you below!
- Washing Machine. Okay, so this is a given unless you plan to hand wash everything in the house. You need a good washing machine and whether you get a top loader or a front loader, the two biggest considerations are the cost and the size. You need one that will suit your family size and your budget, and that means shopping around for one with a good warranty and excellent reviews.
- Dryer. A tumble dryer will dry the clothes that you throw into it in record time and if you live in a particularly cold climate, it’s one of the best investments that you could have. You may need to do a crash course on how to fix a dryer belt, but it’s good to have one! It’s one of the most convenient appliances that your house will benefit from, let alone the laundry room!
- Drying Racks. Your laundry room is likely to be a moist, humid place to be, so you need good drying racks for those clothes that you cannot throw into the dryer. There are always clothes that cannot be tumble dried, and the drying racks give you a second option if it’s raining. For added convenience, have one installed on the exterior of your home.
- Iron. Now, this one is an optional item. There are some out there who never iron anything unless they are getting a shirt on for work in the morning and they cannot get away with the creases. An iron can be built onto the wall, with a pull-down ironing board to make life easy!
- Baskets Galore. Your laundry room may not be the biggest space, but it’s in your interest to have enough baskets to fit the family. You want a light basket, a dark basket, one for linens and towels and then you want to have storage baskets that will help you to sort the many socks and items of clothing that go room to room in your home.
