Motoring Headaches You Sometimes Simply Can’t Avoid

August 6, 2019 Rachel Ferrucci

Owning a vehicle is one of those things that can make life a little easier to handle. A car can help you when it comes to your commute to work, to enjoy your spare time on a weekend traveling and seeing friends and family, and making things like grocery shopping a breeze. However, it is a purchase that is an investment, not just with the initial purchase, but also throughout the ownership of a vehicle.

While there are many positives to having a car, you also need to remember that there can be situations where the car costs you money when you haven’t budgeted for it, become an inconvenience, and even get you hurt. With that in mind, here are some of the common motoring headaches that sometimes you simply can’t avoid.

Your car breaking down

There is no denying that it can be extremely frustrating when your car breaks down. You could be minding your own business, driving along, and then all of a student a stutter of the engine, the engine cuts out or you just start to notice things are not quite right with the handling. The best advice in this situation is to safely get to the side of the road where you are out of harm’s way or at any risk of causing accidents on the road. Many insurances offer a break down assistance alongside the policy, or some drivers have it themselves. Getting the car towed away to a local garage for repair or fixed by the road side is the best scenario. It can often be a huge headache to overcome, not to mention the unforeseen costs of repairs, but once it is done you have the hope that you will have had your fill of bad luck for a while and your car will run smoothly.

Additional work when in for a routine service

It’s all well and good having the expectation of paying for something, such as when you enter a car dealership to buy a car, but often the servicing side of things is a cost you may not have factored into your monthly budget. The costs of servicing can be pretty standard, and they tend to be something that requires to be done once a year, depending on your mileage of course. However, while the cost of the service can be a bitter pill to swallow, so can the report when a technician states extra work needs to take place. Some of the common things include tyres, brakes, windscreen wipers, bulbs etc. Extra costs that you may not have budgeted for, but become necessary costs to keep your vehicle roadworthy.

Being involved in a car accident

One minute you can be driving along without a care in the world, the next you find yourself in a situation where you are involved in an accident that wasn’t your fault. Often you can never predict what will happen, and while it can cause damage to your vehicle, which an insurance company will gladly deal with for you, it can also cause you personal damage to your health and even your finances due to loss of earnings. This is when you may need legal solutions from knowledgeable attorneys to help you get back on the right track and to also guide you when it comes to financial compensation. Getting back on the road after an accident can take time, and this can also have a knock on effect when it comes to your driving confidence.

Bodywork damage

When you park your car up, either at the roadside or in a car park, you expect to return back to it in the state that you left it. However, one big motoring headache that you sometimes just can’t ignore is things like bodywork damage. This could be people brushing past the vehicle with a bag or a key, scratching the paintwork. It might be people opening their car doors right into yours and denting it. It could even be scuff marks on bumpers where people have failed to navigate their car correctly, catching yours in the process. Thankfully, a quick trip to the body shop can help you to fix any bodywork, a cost you might not want, but essential to avoid bigger costs due to rust and further damage in the long term.

Your car being stolen

Finally, the last big motoring headache any of us can face is having our vehicles stolen. These days this can be a less frequent occurrence due to security measure son vehicles with built in immobilizers and alarms. But it can still happen if a key is stolen or you are threatened in the process. Again this is when insurance can prove extremely valuable and can help sort out the issue should it arise.

Let’s hope highlighting some of these motoring headaches will have you more aware of them in the future.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
