Easy Easter or Spring Table Setting

April 2, 2012 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

My favorite part of decorating at holidays or dinner parties is setting the table. Sometimes I don’t have a lot of time so I keep it very simple and other times I can spend hours planning, arranging, and setting it up.

Easter is a less formal holiday dinner for us since it’s usually just the immediate family for dinner. I like to use lots of spring colors and use flowers as my inspiration.

You don’t need to spend a lot, use what you have. For this setting I used a white tablecloth, I’ve also used tablecloths that I purchased cheap from the Christmas Tree Shop. I started with my glass dishes, piling them on top of one another. I’ve also used my grandmother’s old mix matched dishes. If you don’t have dishes to use at holidays, look at yard sales for glass or old china.

The napkins I bought at Target. This is where we get a little creative. We practice creating different napkin designs and for Easter we thought we’d make the napkins into bunnies. It takes about one minute for each one. Over the years my daughter has helped with this task and she is now the official napkin creator!

To make the bunny napkins you can use my boo boo bunny video – This video will also come in handy to make boo boo bunnies for the kids Easter baskets.

To tie the napkins, we used string we had laying around. It’s the same string you use for balloons and wrapping presents. I always keep a couple colors on hand.

Top off the napkin with a flower. I send my husband to buy 3 potted flowers and one cheap bunch. The potted flowers act as centerpieces and the bunch, I cut and stick a flower or two into the string of the napkin. When we sit at the table, everyone usually starts talking about the table setting and this is when I tell my mom, MIL, and daughter, they each can pick a centerpiece. These are their flowers! So the flowers you buy for your mom double duty as a centerpiece!

Easter Table Setting

This is another way to decorate your table. All linens were bought at Christmas Tree Shops and adding flowers and bright colors can bring the spring into your home without spending a lot.

Add your silverware and glasses and you have a simple beautiful spring table!

I also create a dessert table because we have many people come over for dessert. It starts out with the mamosa and wine and then I add desserts after dinner.

What is your favorite part of your holidays?

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
