New York Has An Adventure For Everyone: What To Do and See in NYC

July 24, 2018 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

Statue of LibertyNew York City is probably one of the most famous cities in the world, so it’s no wonder that people continue to flock there to soak up the sounds and the sights, along with everything else, this vibrant destination has to offer. There is always something to enjoy when you arrive, no matter what the weather or what time of day it is; it truly is the city that never sleeps. You’ll have every cuisine within walking distance, or a short cab or subway trip away, there’ll be something brand new to make the most of at every turn, and there are a plethora of must-see landmarks, shows, and destinations that will tick off a chunk of your bucket list. Therefore, whether you’re traveling solo, with your other half, or as a family; you’ll find the perfect adventure in NYC, and leave with memories that last a lifetime.

With so much to do and see, you could spend months and years trying to enjoy each bit. However, most people don’t have the luxury of that much time, and want to make the most of what they are able to spend in New York. Therefore, it’s a smart decision to carefully plan your getaway so that you’ll squeeze in as much as you want to when you’re there. People flock to the bright lights from all over the world, so it’s crucial that you book tickets and passes in advance, and write yourself a thorough travel itinerary. The following are some ideas and inspiration to help you plan your big apple adventure so you and your travel companions will have stress-free and fulfilling trip that you’ll never forget.

See A Show

Many people think of Broadway, and the array of theatres, playhouses, and comedy clubs that adorn New York’s entertainment scene, when they visit the city. So, it’s only right that you look into a musical, play, gig, or show, if you want an evening or two out on the town, that doesn’t involve dancing (by you, anyway). Popular and famous show like Wicked will sell out fast. Therefore, it’s worth deciding what you want to see in advance of your adventure so that you can book tickets in time, and get some great seats. Although there are sometimes opportunities to turn up to the box office on the day; you’re far more likely to be able to get those middle-center seats you wanted, if you book online beforehand.

Wicked

Remember, it doesn’t have to be a musical you go and enjoy. There are theaters of all shapes and sizes, with an array of options when it comes to performances. It’s worth doing a little research, and discovering what NY residents have all been to see, and what’s on the rise in popularity. Or, perhaps you want to head to Madison Square Gardens to watch your chosen performance, or get the best seats possible at a basketball game. When it comes to ticketed events, games, and shows; you’re spoilt for choice in New York, so make sure that you’re booked up and ready for a fun night out.

Fill Up On Food

As previously mentioned, NYC has every type of food imaginable. Cuisine from around the world is being cooked up daily, and there’s something for every budget and style of dining. If you’re after a truly authentic NYC food experience, you can’t leave without trying a slice of pizza or two. The famous Joe’s Pizza on Carmine Street will serve you up an affordable slice of comfort food, and you can grab some late at night; perfect for a post-bar snack. It’s worth taking a look at a list of some of the other options New York has to offer, and discovering where you can get the best pizza in town.

Daily Provisions is somewhere you can grab your breakfast, brunch, or lunch; it’s known for its sandwiches and donuts, which are reportedly the best in the city, so it’s worth checking out. The Flatiron District offers a mix of contemporary (some would say hipster) eateries, and you’ll find a lunch option for everyone. Vegetarians fear not, there’s the popular abcV restaurant, where you can indulge in delicious meat-free food, and the carnivores who are with you won’t moan either.

Again, the food never stops; much like the city, so you can grab a late night dinner at a variety of venues. If you’re craving a great steak at 11:30pm, after seeing a show; head to 4 Charles Prime Rib (probably not one for the aforementioned veggies). You’ll get hearty, traditional food, from ribs and steak, to a slice of pie, and you’ll go to bed very happy and extremely full. If you’re after a cleancut, sitcom version of New York, head to West Village for your dinner. Amongst the trendy residents and shops, you’ll discover some restaurants that will ensure you leave satiated. Many of them are walk-ins; this allows you to leave your name, do a little more sightseeing or shopping, and pop back later to fill up. Try Via Carota for an Italian menu and a great wine list; there’s the option to have a different pizza experience here in comparison to a midnight slice at Joe’s, making it a great option for families.

Rest Your Head

Now, you’re going to need somewhere comfortable to rest your head when you’re on your New York adventure; with so much to do, see, and eat, you’ll be pretty worn out at the end of the day. The best way to choose your accommodation is to pick an area or district you love the look of, and go from there. Perhaps a place has several of the restaurants or shops that you have on your list, or maybe you want to ensure that you’re in the center of everything; choose your accommodation based on the sort of trip you want. Shorter getaways that are about a week long or less, will probably be best enjoyed staying in a hotel. Whereas, if you’re heading to the big apple for a longer stay; you might want to look into Airbnb homes so that you can live like a true New Yorker.

So, you know where to go, what to see and eat, and where to stay; it’s time to start packing!

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
