With the school holidays just around the corner, I am preparing myself for long days spent with the grandchildren. They are great fun, and I love spending time with them, but having them all day means you have to think on your feet to keep them happy and occupied. Top of my list is a day, or two, at the beach. They love being by the sea, and it is a good way to let them burn off some energy and spend some time outside. That way you can just grab your stuff and the kids, get in the car, and hit the beach before the crowds arrive.

It is also wise to take a few first aid items with you. Most of the time you will not need them, but it is good to have some sort of antiseptic and a few plasters with you to help you to deal with any knocks and scrapes.

If you are going to the beach on your own with three or four little ones in tow you need to think about how you are going to get all the stuff you need down to the beach.
