New Moms, Developing Your Kid’s Sensory Skills Is Easier Than You Think

When you’re pregnant, you can often have lots of ideas about what you’re going to do when your baby is born. From feeding choices and sleeping routines, to discipline types and developmental enhancements, your mind is often full of ideas that can give your child the best start in life. But, when they’re born, you seem to forget those well-made plans and try to do the best you can. Thankfully for us all, there is definitely one thing that you can do with ease that can aid your child’s growth in a fantastic way, and that’s developing their senses. But, if you’re wondering how you can go about doing that, here are a few techniques to try out.

Painting

Not only is this a great way to express creativity and have fun, but painting can be a really great sensory experience. Using paints, you can allow your little one to use their hands, feel the (extremely safe) paints with their fingers and have fun making pictures. Then, you also have the option to use sponges to develop touch, along with a salt or sand paint that again will feel totally different to them.

Water Play

Water play is something we often plan without realizing that it can be an incredible option when it comes to sensory development. This is especially the case when it comes to water tables, like these on Pinterest.com. There are so many different kinds that you can try that each develops senses in their own different way. With different features and activities within each, you’re sure to keep your kid entertained and amazing for a while with an ideal water table.

Sandbox

Similarly to the water table, there’s also the option to work with a sandbox. Again, this is another fun form of sensory development for your kid. You can often find resources on sites like TinyFry.com that allow you to try out new ideas when it comes to the different activities that might work for you family. Sometimes, you can also benefit from adding different colors and shapes into the sand to make it an educational experience too.

Instruments

But sensory develop doesn’t have to be about touch alone. It can also be about sound. And one of the best ways that you can develop and encourage different sound experiences with your little one is with different instruments. Whether you purchase different kinds or even make your own a home, something like a tambourine or bells can be fun for your child to hold, make their own sounds with, and even feel too.

Food

And finally, you’ve also got the option to encourage a range of sensory experiences with food. Why not set up a bunch of different Tupperware boxes with different foods in? With things like jello, spaghetti, or even rice, your kid can feel the different textures and even eat them to get used to different tastes too. Sometimes, you might even want to play around with different smells as a part of the experience too.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
