Now that summer is upon us, you will probably be looking to spend as much time outdoors as possible. And if you have children, this means getting your garden ready to have fun with the whole family. There is no reason that your outdoor space can’t look great as well as being a place for the kids to run wild and have fun. So, if you are looking for ways to make your garden a more fun environment, you have certainly come to the right place!

Think in Terms of Zones

Most adults prefer to have an area for themselves and a separate area for the kids where all their play equipment can be kept. If you have very young kids, this will ideally be located nearby to the house so they can enjoy both the indoors and outdoors freely. If your kids are a little older, let them know which are their areas to play and which ones you want them to be more careful in. This helps to teach them valuable lessons about sharing, and also means your flowers don’t get ruined!

Decide What Equipment to Buy

There are all kinds of fun garden play things for kids, so it really does depend on your budget, and how much space you have on offer. For starters, you could check out this springless trampoline (click to see a review) which is likely to be a hit with kids both young and old. Other options include swing sets and jungle gyms, which also have the added benefit of keeping your children active while they enjoy the garden. If you are looking to save money and you are a little bit handy, you could try the DIY option or even try buying second-hand. It is worth remembering that children often outgrow play equipment fairly quickly, so bear this in mind before buying top-of-the-range.

Keep Mature Trees and Shrubs

A great way to encourage your kids to interact with nature is to keep mature trees and shrubs as they are perfect for a tyre, swing or rope. Before you attempt to put up this type of equipment, double check to make sure everything is safe and that the tree is able to support your child’s weight. As for matures shrubs, they make great hiding places for kids and they can also be used as the starting point of a den.

Teach Your Kids About Nature

One of the main points of having a garden in the first place is to give your kids a space where they can interact with nature first-hand. So, try teaching them the names of birds and butterflies. If you are looking for a project you can all do together, try planting some flowers, trees or vegetables and nurture them. If your garden gets a little bit wild, this often just adds to the atmosphere and makes it even more fun. Basically, you want your kids to get excited about going outdoors!

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
