Staying in is the new going out ladies! Well, it is if you want it to be. If you and your girls are long overdue a get-together but health issues or young children have left you too exhausted to go clubbing there is plenty that you can do in the comfort of your own home.
Get texting your friends and organizing that night in because here are some fabulous ideas for a girl’s night in that you will not be able to resist! We all need a break now and again.

Sophisticated wine and cheese tasting evening
This will start off as sophisticated but it may deteriorate if a lot of wine is consumed! Nothing goes together as well as good wine, delicious cheese, and great company. You will need at least four different kinds of trendy cheeses, go for something with universal appeal that most of your friends will like. Why not try:
- One creamy with a soft rind
- A hard and sharp or salty variety
- One blue and pungent
- One mild and palatable
You’ll need a selection of crackers and fruit to dilute the richness. Then, of course, there is the wine! As with the cheese selection, variety is the key. Ask everyone to bring over a bottle or two. Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are firm favorites and you can’t go wrong with these.
A night in at the movies
Chick flicks can rule on your night in and no-one will complain! Some top picks would be: “Pretty Woman”, “Dirty Dancing,” and “Miss Congeniality” but you will have your own selection. Why not write down names of movies on pieces of paper and pick them out of a hat to avoid arguments over what you are going to watch. Alternatively, you could put it to the vote!
Get yourself prepared and in the mood by looking up some Netflix and Chill recipes from cakejournal.com and give your friends a treat. Pop on your pajamas, fluffy slippers and grab a hot water bottle and some tissues for the ultimate grown-up slumber party.
The ultimate spa night
This is an evening of pure indulgence. Choose a room that is easy to heat (you want it to be nice and warm) and where the lighting is soft. Light some candles and burn some essential oils. Get all your friends to pop on a robe and tie long hair back from the face. Then, set up several stations for a series of treatments. You can hire professionals in or take turns to do the treatments yourselves. Try things such as massages, facials, mani-pedis and makeup. Finish it all with some gorgeous nail polishes and nourishing body creams.
Clothing swap night in
This is a lot more fun than selling your stuff on depop. This lovely night solves the closet crisis and the junk stored under your bed. Each friend brings ten items of clothing that they now don’t like but which are clean and in perfect condition. It works best with tops, jackets, scarves and accessories. Now get stuck in!
