Healthier Journey Ideas You’ll Love

May 12, 2017 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for ways to improve your health, you might be keen to start a new diet and exercise plan. Eating right and becoming more active are sure ways to live a healthy lifestyle. Of course, lifestyle is the key word here. It’s about making changes to our everyday lives and the way we live them. You might not even need to make big changes. Just one or two things could make a big difference though. So why not start with how you get from A to B?

Getting out of the car can certainly offer plenty of benefits. Why not try one or two of these fun ways to take your next journey?

Segway

These aren’t just expensive toys. They can be pretty practical when you’re trying to get from one place to the next. They don’t throw out any emissions, so you won’t be inhaling any harmful fumes. Of course, they’re not quite as active as walking or jogging, but you still need a good, strong core for balance and maneuvering.

Rollerblades

Remember these when we were kids? Yes, you can still buy them, and yes they come in adult sizes. Some millennials have been leading the way in using them for commuting (they’re younger and have the energy!) Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from whizzing around the park, or building up those ankles and calves for a full commute.

Scooter

Speaking of fun kids’ toys, the scooter has come a long way! Now they’re built for adults to use and perform all those tricks down at the skate park we love to see. They’re also pretty good fun for getting about, and make grabbing a loaf of bread at the grocery store a bit more exciting too!

Electric Vehicles

These are not only healthier for the environment but their healthier for your wallet too. No fumes, due to being battery powered, and no expensive gas station stops either. Choose from vehicles like the elektrische scooter or the electric car or even the electric assisted bicycle. You might not be getting much in the way of an activity boost though.

Walking

They say that walking every day could add an extra seven years to your life. It is moderately active and therefore ideal for young and old and everyone in between. Many people are aiming to walk ten thousand steps a day to make sure they’re burning off enough calories. Walk the kids to school, then walk to work. Take a walk around the block at lunchtime, or walk to your friend’s house after dinner.

Cycling

Using a bicycle has become a very popular way to become more healthy. It’s also a great way to spend your vacation too! You can cycle almost anywhere, although some places have laws to prevent you using the sidewalks or freeways (common sense prevails.)

Jogging

If you’re looking for a way to burn more calories, increase your stamina, and go further quicker, jogging is a great activity to enjoy. Jog home from the office, take a lap around the park for stress relief, or just pound the pavements for fun. Your journey needs no purpose to be enjoyable and healthy.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
