Never Leave Home Without These Essential Items This Summer

April 11, 2017 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

There are some things you would be smart not to leave home without, such as your keys, phone, and purse. However, for longer days out it’s best to be prepared for any situation. Below is a checklist for things that should always be in your handbag this summer. inside of purse

Battery case or portable phone charger

Phone batteries don’t last as long as they used to, especially when we’re draining it by returning emails, doing work on the move, or just trying in vain to beat that Candy Crush level. The last thing you want is to be caught late at the office and have your battery dying just as you’re making your way home. Having a portable phone charger in case of emergencies could save you from a bigger emergency.

Sunscreen

This valuable skin protector doesn’t just live in large beach bags for moms. You should be carrying it with you everywhere, especially if you’re going to be out and about during peak sunlight hours (between 10am and 4pm).

Makeup base

If you prefer to wear makeup throughout the day, opt for a primer or BB cream with SPF to look radiant, and keep your skin protected all day. You should also carry a lip balm with SPF so that your lips are also shielded from UV rays.

Sunglasses

Don’t take a chance that you will be blinded by an unexpected glare in your window. Keep a pair of sunglasses in your handbag and protect your eyes from UV rays to keep headaches at bay.

Blotting papers

Blotting papers are an elegant way to wipe off excess oil, shine, and sweat on your brow, cheeks, and upper lip. Go one step further and pack a small face mist bottle to stay refreshed throughout the day.

Mini deodorant

On hot days your deodorant works much harder. Avoid any embarrassing smells in the middle of the day by keeping a small spray bottle in your handbag and top it up whenever you feel you need it.

Safety pins

The usefulness of safety pins can never be overstated. These are a lifesaver if you pop a button or a seam. You can even use them as an emergency clasp if your necklace breaks.

Band-aids

Not just for tending to scrapes and cuts on children’s knees. Band-aids can save your feet from painful new shoes, or sandals that are cutting in the wrong places.

Breath mints

You decided to have a falafel wrap for your lunch and, although it was delicious, the smell lingers on your breath. A few mints in your purse will take care of any after-lunch odors and let you continue with your day.

Aspirin (or pain reliever of choice)

You never know when a headache or other intense pain might strike.

Sanitizer

Germs thrive in the heat and sweat that summer brings. Have a bottle of hand sanitizer ready if you use public transport or before you indulge in healthy snacks. Opt for one with Vitamin E or a moisturizing agent so your skin doesn’t dry out.

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
