A change in season means a change in your beauty routine, and if you haven’t already now is the perfect time to update your makeup bag. When it’s warm outside, you’ll want a lighter and fresher look, so there are a few things to switch out to achieve this. Here’s what you need in your makeup bag this spring/ summer!

A Light, Dewy Foundation

Foundation tends to come in two types- ‘matte’ and ‘dewy.’ Dewy products give your skin a natural glow which is really nice at this time of year, go with a sheer product which will allow your natural skin to show through. When it’s warmer outside, you don’t want something overly flat and heavy on your complexion. If you’re worried about a sheer foundation due to blemishes or less than perfect skin, there are things you can do. There are treatments out there which are effective at getting rid of acne scars, and you can cover any active blemishes with a touch of concealer.

A  Shimmering Bronzer

If you want to ‘warm up’ the look of your skin, bronzer is the perfect way to do so. Don’t fry yourself sat in the sun getting a tan, a touch of false tan topped up with a bit of bronzer will give you that beachy bronzed goddess appearance! Go a step further and add some illuminating highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones, this will catch the light in the sun and make your face look more defined too. You don’t want to be applying layers and layers of product, so skip the contour and just add a touch of highlighter instead.

A Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

To complete your bronzed look, go with a neutral smokey eye. A matte taupe shadow in the crease of the eye with a shimmering bronze or gold on the lid is a great subtle yet pretty look for the daytime. For the evening you could smoke it out further, going in with a little charcoal or dark brown shadow in the outer corner of the eye and under the lower lash line.

A Lipstick In The Perfect Shade

Spring and summer mean it’s out with the bold, vampy reds and in with light and pretty colors. Corals, light pinks and nude lipsticks all work well at this time of year. Try out some different shades and work out what suits you based on your natural colorings.

A Lip Balm With SPF

No lipstick is going to look good over chapped lips. An intensely nourishing lip balm is essential in everyone’s makeup bag at this time of year! Go a step further and get one with an SPF included which will protect from the sun’s damaging UV rays. Apply every morning when you’re going through your skincare routine, and then throughout the day as needed. If you wear lipstick, choose a balm which is easily absorbed and sits well underneath.
Have you updated your makeup bag for spring and summer yet? What are your favorite products to use at this time of year?

You’ll find a replica David in the square but going to Accademia Gallery in Florence and seeing this breathtaking statue by Michelangelo is 100% worth it, whether you like art or not. His right leg has a tree stump which balances the entire statue.
