Top To Toe Autumn Looks To Fall For This Season

October 5, 2016 Rachel Ferrucci Leave a Comment

The leaves are beginning to fall, and the air has that crisp, clear quality. It sunny but cold and all the Halloween decorations are in the stores. That can mean only one thing, it’s Fall and Fall means new a whole new season of beauty looks and fashions to get your head around. But worry not, below are all the essential fall looks and a quick guide on how to do them. Your welcome!

Causally Fall

Ok, so one of the best things about fall is that it starts to get a little more chilly. What better excuse to crack out your brushed fleece pajama bottoms and slippers. That’s right, it’s snuggling weather!

To take full advantage of this and still look on trend this season, treat yourself to a few pairs of traditional brushed cotton pajamas. You know they are the ones they warm up as you wear them and just get more and cozy through the evening. You should also invest in a nice pair of fake fur lined slipper boots too. Tuck those PJ bottoms into the top of the boot for the best look.

Of course, you can wear either a fitted or baggy t-shirt on top, and don’t forget to treat yourself to a nice hoodie. These are ideal for relaxing as you can put up the hood to keep you warm and block out the rest of the world. You can even get ones that have room for a cuddle with your pets! Sweet!

Casual Fall Makeup

For relaxing around the house, you don’t really want to rock a full face of makeup. However, you don’t want to be bare faced either. What if the postman comes to the door? What if your neighbor pops round? That’s why the new buildable puff foundations are perfect. You can choose your coverage from light to medium, by just adding more. A quick slick of lip balm and some mascara and you are ready to go.

Smart casual

So, now on to the fall, smart casual look. This is when you are looking to head out the house, but the situation is not quite ball gown appropriate!

There is a range of outfits you can try. Fall favorites include the dress, jacket and leggings combo, or the skinny jeans and jumper combo. You are free to choose whichever you feel best in, or alternate as the situation dictates.

However some the dress and leggings style outfit will suit apple and pear body shapes the best. This is because it will create a waistline and skim over the parts you’d prefer to hide. Similarly the jeans and jumper combo with suit those with a more athletic or oblong frame as it adds a long line and balances out the shoulders and hips.

So let’s take the dress and leggings combo on first. What should you be looking for to be on trend this season? Well, plaid is in for women as well as men. Look for berry reds and traditional blues and greens. This works well when combined with some brown ankle boots and a leather jacket. Or you can use checks as the accent over a black skater style dress. In fact, a black skater dress is probably a good buy this season as anything gothic, and a bit 90’s is super on trend. If you feel like you don’t want to rock too much flannel, then a subtle way of wearing it is a scarf to accessorize your outfit with.

On to the jumper and jeans combo. A classic way to style this type of outfit is to go for black skinnies, a long white shirt, with a square shaped jumper over the top. It’s elegant and edgy, and you can pretty much wear it anywhere.

If you are looking for something that’s a bit softer and feminine, then go for some blue jeans. Team with a long soft jumper in fabric like cashmere. Then add over the knees boots in classic black and a waterfall cardigan or body warmer. Don’t forget to accessorize with an oversized handbag in this season’s colors either.

Smart Casual Fall Makeup

So what is the smart casual makeup look we should be rocking this season? Well, it’s more smart than casual as the fashion seems to be for flawless dramatic makeup with a definite 90’s vibe. We are talking bold eyes with HD brows and liner. As well as dark lips in colors like blackberry, plum, magenta and even black if you are into that sort of thing!

While this might seem too much for a lot of us, there are a few ways we can channel this look, without going full Courtney Love. The first is to invest in a liquid eyeliner. Ok, so you are going to need a bit of practice if you are not used to wearing. But there are a few tips that can make it easier. The first is to follow an online guide on how to apply it. The second is set your eyeliner with black eyeshadow so it doesn’t smudge. The third is to admit defeat and just get an eyeliner stencil. Why make things harder than they need to be?

The other thing that you can do, as a nod to this seasons lipstick trend, is to go for a darker lipstick shade. If this is a terrifying proposition, don’t stress, just go to the store and find your usual shade, and then count three down and try that one. You don’t have to be Instagram ready with a Poison Purple if that’s not your thing.

One of the most problematic things about darker lip shades, apart from getting it all over your teeth, is that they can make your lips look thinner. Some people combat this by using lip plumping products. Others choose a more permanent option such as the injectables available at Cosmetic Laser Dermatology.

It’s my Party

Hopefully, there will be a few shindigs for you to attend this autumn and winter season. But what should you be wearing when you party? Well, it’s metallics. Both in clothes and makeup, metallic colors are immense!

There are plenty of dresses, tops and even shoes out there in a myriad of metallic hues like rose gold and silver. They key to rocking the metallics, is that you have to combine it carefully with other textures and colors for it to work. If the main part of your outfit is shiny, then you need to play it simple and classic with the rest, to avoid looking like a Christmas tree.

For example, a beautiful metallic dress, needs to be paired with plain classic shoes. Remember to keep your jewellery chic and straightforward too, for a classy look.

Metallics in makeup are so much fun, but again you need to use with caution. If you are going for a bold metallic lip or glitter around the eyes, it may be better complimented by a chic black item of clothing.

Office Chic

Last, but not least what should we be wearing to work this AW season? Well, there are two main looks that you can pick from. The first in monochrome geometric. The second is vintage luxe.

Monochrome geometric is a bold tailored look that is focused mainly in blacks, white and grays. Crisp white shirts are teamed with open checked tailored pieces like skirts, wide leg trousers, and duster coats. Stripes make an appearance too, and shoes are kept to a simple flat or heeled, pointed toe pump.

The vintage luxe look is more colorful. But the colors are muted autumnal tones, such as oranges, gold, and greens. They tend to have metallic shimmer through the thread and are paired with Chanel style box jackets with velvet and brocade trims. Best picks include dress and jacket combinations or cigarette leg trousers with a crew neck black jumpers.

Fall Office Makeup

The makeup that you decide to wear to the office often has a lot to do with the company that you work for. If you are in a more creative firm, you might be able to get away with the bolder 90’s look. But if your company is a bit more traditional, then you’ll have to tone it down somewhat.

A good way of doing this is to embrace the other key lip trend of the season, which is nude lips. Brands like MAC and NYX are producing some fantastic matt nude products for you to try. The advantage of matte lipsticks is that they tend to be much longer wearing.  However, they can dry out your lips. If this is an issue, remember to moisturize your lips thoroughly before applying and then after you remove.

Eye makeup should be classic and not too gothic. A traditionally classic eye like this will suffice. Don’t forget to do some subtle contouring as well. It’s pretty easy, and there are a lot of products out there for you to use, including creams, sticks, and powders. Just remember that blending is your best friend, lines are not cool.

Why did no one warn us that menopause would turn our bodies into a crime scene… Dryness. Pain. Sneezing roulette. UTIs showing up uninvited. And doctors smiling politely and saying, “That’s just aging.” Cool. Love that for us.

Say Hello to Silky Peach Cream 🍑 A bioidentical estriol cream that works locally to rebuild thinning tissue, restore moisture, and bring back comfort where it actually matters. Not a Band-Aid. Not a $350 prescription. Not a lube that disappears by lunchtime.

Estriol is the gentlest form of estrogen our bodies naturally make, and Silky Peach Cream puts it back exactly where menopause took it away. Over time, tissue rebuilds, moisture returns, and suddenly intimacy doesn’t feel like sandpaper and regret.

Two pumps nightly. Then maintenance. Because it took years to get this dry… it’s okay if it takes a little time to feel normal again.

I’m done whispering about menopause. I got my life back. And my peach is happy again!

I didn’t expect this to be the hardest part of getting older.

If sex hurts. If you avoid intimacy. If you dread wiping.

It’s not “just dryness.” It’s estrogen loss. And yes, it’s fixable.

Menopause doesn’t ease in quietly. It shows up hot, uncomfortable, and disruptive. And for way too long, women are told to whisper about it or accept it as “just aging.” I’m done with that.

Silky Peach Cream helped restore moisture, rebuild thinning tissue, and bring back comfort where menopause took it away. Not a quick fix. Not a Band-Aid. Just real, gradual relief that made me feel like myself again.

Two pumps. Some patience. And a lot less suffering.

Stop whispering about menopause. You deserve relief. You deserve joy. Your peach deserves to be happy again.

Get the details and try it for yourself at the link in my bio.

When I found out I needed surgery, my 1st thought wasn’t the procedure. It was the fear of being handed opioids again with no real choice. After my last surgery, opioids were the only option I had, my insurance didn’t cover the non-opioid alternatives I specifically asked for. That showed me how quickly exposure can happen. Many people don’t realize that about 1 in 10 patients who receive opioids after surgery will struggle with long-term use. That’s nearly 4 million people per year. It’s no secret that opioids can lead to addiction, & we should be much louder about the fact that there are non opioid options that can be used during surgery to manage pain afterwards.
Medicare already recognizes this & separately reimburses for FDA-approved non-opioid pain treatments, proving these options are real & available. Yet insurance barriers often make them difficult or impossible to access. Instead of making decisions about my recovery with my doctor, insurance policy made them for me. As I prepare for my next surgery, I want access to every option that reduces my exposure. I know how easily things can escalate. I’ve seen opioid use continue far longer than intended. It can tear apart families before anyone realizes what’s happening. What starts as short-term pain management after surgery becomes something no one ever expected, simply because safer options were never offered. It’s frustrating that some major insurers still haven’t expanded coverage the way Medicare has. #UnitedHealthcare is one of the companies whose restrictions make it harder to access FDA-approved non-opioid surgical pain options. Because of their size, these decisions affect millions. Surgery shouldn’t be a gateway to opioid addiction. Medicare covers these options. UnitedHealthcare & others need to do the same so patients aren’t pushed toward opioids by outdated policies. Patients & families deserve better.
