When it is too cold to enjoy the outdoors, you have to find ways to stay entertained inside. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to head to the movies. This season, there are lots of quality films to choose from. Below are our top five picks.
The Good Dinosaur
This year gives us two Pixar movies—something that has never happened before. This movie, like all Pixar films, is one that will be enjoyed by the entire family. Following Arlo the Apatosaurus, this movie espouses the value of friendship and accepting others despite our differences. It proves to be a touching tale, pulling on our emotions as only Pixar can.
Star Wars Episode VII—The Force Awakens
If anyone in your home is a Star Wars fan, this is a must see. Out of all the movies released in 2015, this has undoubtedly been the most anticipated. Just watch a trailer for the film and you will be assured that it will not disappoint. While there are fight scenes, this movie is suitable for the majority of the family, and you can make it even more exciting by attending special screenings in costume.
Daddy’s Home
Brad Taggart (Will Ferrell) is a kindhearted radio executive who wants to be the best possible stepfather to his wife’s (Linda Cardellini) two children. When her freewheeling ex-husband Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) breezes back into town, Brad’s feeling of insecurity quickly develops into an inferiority complex. As Dusty demonstrates his flair for athletics, home repair and bad-boy charisma, Taggart finds himself in a no-holds-barred battle to one-up his rival and win the approval of his family.
Suffragette
Suffragette is the perfect movie to watch with friends or your daughters to bond over the power women hold. While many of us are familiar with the suffrage battle in the US, we tend to be less familiar with those in other countries. This film focuses on suffragettes in England, providing a different perspective from other films on the same topic.
The Revenant
Once again, this is not a film for the family. However, it has been noted by multiple film critics as one of, if not the, best films of 2015. From the gripping storyline to the way the camera uses the wilderness to frame shots, this is a stunning piece of cinema
