Sometimes, you really just need to catch up with the girls. If you are in desperate need of some grown-up girl bonding time, there is no need to go out and spend tons of money. Instead, plan a girls’ night in. Below are some ideas we think can help you make an excellent evening for you and your girls.
Your Basic Movie Night
This one is a classic. Find a few “chick flicks” or whatever genre works for your particular group of ladies, pop some popcorn, and spend the entire movie talking and catching up. This is something you have no doubt done before, but you come back to it time and time again for a reason: it works.
If you are looking to kick things up a notch, create a popcorn bar so everyone can customize their flavors, and replace your typical movie night soda or slushy with cocktails or frozen margaritas.
A Backyard Party
It always seems like the men take over the backyard because they want to command the grill. Why not switch things up and let the girls have a turn? Kick the men and the kids out and have a blast. In addition to manning the grill, you should also have fun with the pool, sprinkler, and other toys. Why should everyone else always have all the fun?
Craft Night
And no one needs to be particularly crafty for this to be fun. Find something on Pinterest, grab your supplies, pour the drinks, and see where it goes. Yes, you will most likely be creating terrible, Pinterest fails, but isn’t that honestly better than succeeding? It may not sound that exciting on the surface, but craft night is what memories are made of. My BFF holds a craft exchange each year and it’s always a blast.
Food and Drink Sampling
Plan a menu of different food to cook together and sample. The same for cocktails. Everyone can bring some ingredients or you can have one person buy everything and split it among you all. You’ll learn a new recipe while you’re chatting and laughing with friends!
General Ideas
Try to keep everything cheap so no one feels like you paid too much, or if you are splitting, that they cannot afford it.
Ban technology, besides the TV for the movies. Put a basket at the door and place all turned off phones inside.
Arrange childcare so everyone is free to come. And make sure they have the house number since all the phones will be off.
Relax. Don’t worry about it being perfect; nothing ever is, and that really is a good thing.
